What the )(*&^%,! Quantum. Traveling Down the Rabbit Hole ©

    by: Betsy L. Angert

Mon Dec 11, 2006 at 16:22:48 PM EST

The day of "celebration" drained me.  Universal Human Rights Treaties and a jointly honored International Human Rights Day were not broadly observed.  They were barely a whisper.  Fifty-eight years later we are still lost; perhaps more so than we ever were.  I need to re-visit my own source of reality.  I long to connect completely.  I desire a journey "Down the Rabbit Hole." Again, I wish to be enveloped by a parallel universe.  I am reminded, what we know of as "fact" is only what we wish or have learned to believe.

Please join me; enter the world of quantum physics.  Enjoy the travel.  Think beyond what you know and discover strings and waves are not as they appear to be; nor are we.

Dr Quantum - Double Slit Experiment

"I want to know how God created this world.
I am not interested in this or that phenomenon,
in the spectrum of this or that element.
I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details."

    ~ Albert Einstein

"Time is not a line, but a series of now points."
    ~ Taisen Deshimaru

"The opposite of a fact is falsehood,
but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth."

    ~ Niels Bohr

"The greatest discovery of my generation is that
a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes."

    ~ William James

    Quantum Physics

Quantum physics is a branch of science that deals with discrete, indivisible units of energy called quanta as described by the Quantum Theory.

There are five main ideas represented in Quantum Theory:

  • Energy is not continuous, but comes in small but discrete units.
  • The elementary particles behave both like particles and like waves.
  • The movement of these particles is inherently random.
  • It is physically impossible to know both the position and the momentum of a particle at the same time.
  • The more precisely one is known, the less precise the measurement of the other is.
  • The atomic world is nothing like the world we live in.

While at a glance this may seem like just another strange theory, it contains many clues as to the fundamental nature of the universe and is more important then even relativity in the grand scheme of things (if any one thing at that level could be said to be more important then anything else). Furthermore, it describes the nature of the universe as being much different then the world we see.

As Niels Bohr said, "Anyone who is not shocked by quantum theory has not understood it."

  • Sigh, breathe deeply.  What do we know?  When, or why did we begin to believe as we do?  Might we pursue a reality that differs?  After all, is truth not perception.  Might we adopt a perspective that brings us peace within and throughout the world.

Please recall, our presence alone influences what occurs.  Please present peace and love!

Sink yourself into science . . . Share your theories please.

Knowledge is an interesting phenomenon. (6.00 / 1)
Today's truth may be disproved tomorrow.  Belief is only perception and not necessarily truth.  Facts depend on the means of observation and are influenced by the observer as well as the observed issue be it life or atomic physics.

Life is all about perspective.  The situation in underdeveloped countries is difficult to see or to feel if one lives in a NY penthouse.  All perspective is based in life experience.  The more broadly a person experiences life, the more perspective is gained, IMHO.

This post is so full of wonderful stuff to ponder, I cannot do it justice just now.  Maybe more later.  Thanks, Betsy.  Good thoughts.

    Dearest possum . . .

Oh yes, so much to ponder.  Each time someone speaks of facts I reply,

A concept is stronger than a fact.
Charlotte P. Gillman [1860-1935, Leading Writer on Women Rights]

A fact in itself is nothing.  It is valuable only for the idea attached to it, or the proof which it furnishes.
Claude Bernard [1813-1878 Leading French Physiologist]

Still they are certain they know . . . [what?]  The longer I live the more I realize I know nothing with certainty.  Even my own beliefs are in a constant state of flux.  I prefer being fluid!

    I am so here with you . . .

I thank you for being you . . . and appreciating my thoughts.

It is only the giving that makes us what [who] we are. ~ Ian Anderson. Jethro Tull
